Impact of Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment of Generalized Chronic Periodontitis on Quality of Life

Aim: In recent years, after treatments variety of measurement scales are used to record the extent and impact treatment on quality patient’s life. Among these scales, Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-49) a shorter version that OHIP-14 most comprehensive, accessible common ones. Our aim was evaluate effect non-surgical periodontal therapy generalized chronic periodontitis patients’ life by using Turkish scale (OHIP-14-TR). 
 Method: 58 patients (37 men 21 women) diagnosed with requiring were recruited in this study. All asked fill form containing demographic, socio-economic information, reason dental visit oral hygiene habits. Clinical parameters (Plaque index (PI), gingival (GI), probing pocket depth (PPD), clinical attachment loss (CAL), bleeding (BOP)) recorded at baseline, one month treatment. Non-surgical scaling root planning performed during week two seperate sessions. OHIP-14-TR questionnaires have been filled out before treatment.
 Results: There significant decreases all (p0.05). Significant positive correlation found between physical pain, BOP PPD. After treatment, BOP, PPD, pain decreased.
 Conclusion: According results study, it revealed effective improving patients.
